![]() ![]() See a show at the beautiful Louisville Palace. ![]() Ride on a steamboat such as the Belle of Louisivllle and check out truly American Museums like the Louisville Slugger or Muhammad Ali. ![]() Google it and there are many tours from ghost tours to walking tours.Īttend a festival.check Take a tour of Old Louisville, the largest Victorian neighborhood in America. While in that area walk to the Castleman statue to understand how some in this part of the country hate the confederate past, and walk along Cherokee Rd and Willow Ave, Cherokee Rd, and Willow Ave admiring Victorian architecture. Lunch at Royals or Feast, Dinner at Harvest or Mayan Cafe.īuying records at Better Days, Highland Records, or Book and Music Exchange on on Bardstown Rd then walking north along that district to pick a lunch spot (Eagle or the Cafe are both very Americana). Tour of Joe' Ley's Antiques in Nulu (true Americana), followed by shopping locally at Six Sisters, Peace of Earth, Scout, and other nearby shops (Or Rabbit Hole Distillery). Tour of Copper and Kinds American Brandy distillery followed by amazing dinner at Butcherttown Grocery and a drink at its lounge above, Lola. You need to see much of the urban core! Best way to do it? Eat your way around and it will put you in interesting places. I will have a normal car with my wife and daughter (aged 21) in tow.Īnswer: To the OP.there is simply wayyyyy too much to do in Louisville to skim through fast! I don't mind quick photo stops either for waterfalls, views etc but must be only a short walk maybe 5 minutes max from where car is parked (no hiking). Might need to end up a balance between driving part on Interstate and part on scenic roads, so happy for you experts to throw up lots of options and please let me know if you have driven these routes or whether it's something you have just heard about. Maybe add 1-2 hours maximum to overall journey. I'd also like to get some scenic options instead of driving on motorways all day as long as it does not add too much time to the journey. Also love looking around the odd souvenir shop looking for novelty licence plates which I collect and other things. We like truly American things as we are Aussies looking to discover real America. To give you some perspective we would enjoy having say 2 to 3 stops along the way for morning tea / lunch / afternoon tea going to places like quirky diners, pretty towns and the like that are well known to the locals for great coffee/ milk shakes / key lime pie / lemon meringue pie / burgers or any other food treats. I am not looking to necessarily take the fastest route, but I am looking for ideas on any points of interest or scenic aspects that I should consider seeing or stopping at on the route.
